Four day Garden Route escorted tour

Day 1 Tuesday:

Pick up at about 08:15 on Tuesdays from central areas in air-conditioned small vehicle with professional accredited driver guide to escort the tour.

Head north over the spectacular Du Toit's Kloof Mountain pass through Worcester, along Route 62 and through Montagu. We stop for a wine tasting and delicious lunch before we travel through the Karoo to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world and home to magnificent feather palaces. Overnight at the 3* Protea Hotel by Marriott Oudtshoorn Riempie Estate Hotel (or similar). 

Day 2 Wednesday:

After a good breakfast we visit the world famous Cango Caves for a 1 hour guided tour before we visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch to view crocodiles, cheetah, tiger, lion, puma, and jaguar. Lunch is at an ostrich farm and includes optional ostrich delicacies. We tour the farm and learn interesting facts about ostriches. 

The late afternoon takes us over the Outeniqua Mountains to Knysna. We’ll take a drive to the spectacular Knysna Heads where the ocean surges through the two sea cliffs to enter the magnificent lagoon. Get your camera ready!

Our hotel tonight is the 4.5* Simola Hotel Country Club & Spa in Knysna (or similar). 

Day 3 Thursday:

The morning gives us some time to enjoy the quaint village of Knysna and we have a bit of free time in the Knysna Waterfront to take photos and shop for souvenirs, or to sit and absorb the beauty of the magnificent lagoon and the unique surroundings. At 10:00 we depart for a guided boat trip to Featherbed Private Nature Reserve (subject to weather conditions and boat sailing). You’ll enjoy spectacular views of the Knysna Heads from the placid waters of the Knysna Lagoon. You’ll find out all about the magnificent flora and fauna from your specialist guide before enjoying a delicious buffet lunch at the outdoor restaurant under a canopy of Milkwood trees.

We head to Mossel Bay to visit the Post Office Tree and Diaz museum. We spend a leisurely afternoon at the swimming pool or stroll along the beach before enjoying dinner, and overnight at the 4* Protea Hotel by Marriott Mossel Bay (or similar). 

Day 4 Friday:

Breakfast is at Botlierskop Private Game before we experience a 3-hour safari game drive in an open vehicle on the 3000-hectare reserve to look for Rhinos, Lions, Buffalos, Giraffes, Elephants, the rare Black Impala and many species of birds. 

We enjoy lunch in historic Swellendam. If time allows we’ll stop at a local farm stall before heading back on the scenic route to Cape Town.
