Meet your guide at the Prince Edward MTR station in Hong Kong in the morning or afternoon (depending on option selected). After a 15-minute bus transfer, you’ll arrive at the starting point for your hike in Kam Shan Country Park. Begin with a gentle ascent, reaching a total of 1,640 feet (500 meters) in elevation change over an entire hiking distance of 7 miles (12 km).

Troops of macaques can be seen playing and preening as you wind your way uphill; take advantage of plentiful photo opportunities. Further along the hiking trail, your guide points out the British military defensive line, aka the Gin Drinkers Line, built during WWII to defend Hong Kong against Japanese invasion. See the bunkers, underground trenches, and machine gun posts best explored with the aid of a flashlight. From here, follow a section of the Wilson Trail, known as Smuggler's Ridge, to the end of the hike.

Another brief bus journey returns you to the Prince Edward MTR station.
